The Mayor of London’s planning team is revising its guidance on play. The team is inviting initial views on the existing document, especially from those who are familiar with it, before it is redrafted and consulted on more widely.
This document, co-written by planning consultancy EDAW (now part of AECOM) and me, was published in 2008. It sets out what the Mayor, local authorities, housing developers and others should do to create good outdoor play space for all the capital’s children.
The Mayor’s planning team is seeking views on:
- How do you use the guidance?
- Which part(s) do you find the most useful? Which part(s) would you like to see improved?
- Is there anything new or any important issue you would like to see added?
- Do you have any good practice examples specific to London or other dense urban environments (case studies, pictures) they could use, for example types of playable space?
If you want to respond at this stage, email Hermine.Sanson@london.gov.uk by the end of July.
